The inner ring is split on a plan perpendicular to the shaft center. They are angular contact one race ball bearings, with separable inner and outer rings. They allow the axial load to be sustained in both directions, with a single part. The contact angle formed by the ball and inner and outer rings is 35°. One part of this bearing enables to replace the angular contact ball bearing face-to-face or back-to-back combination.
Machined brass cages are generally used.
